Horizon Hospice and Palliative Care

Actually, there are several ways in which our friends can enrich the Circle of Care that provides palliative and hospice care to anyone who requests services, irrespective of their ability to pay.

Contributing stock that is sold at a gain or a loss may have tax benefits.

Stock Gain
Giving long-term appreciated stock or mutual fund shares results in a two-fold savings: the avoidance of capital gains tax and a tax deduction for the full fair market value of the gift. (Note that the stock should not be sold first or capital gains would apply.)

Stock Loss
Contributing a gift of stock for which there is a loss, sell the securities first and then contribute the proceeds to Horizon. This enables the donor to take a capital loss on the tax return and a charitable deduction for the cash contribution.

Planned Giving
A bequest is an investment in end-of-life care. Bequests ensure that high-quality end-of-life care will continue into the future. The following life changes should prompt a review of your will and estate plan: marriage, divorce, birth/adoption of a child, a spouse’s death, changes in assets, changes in tax law, changes in beneficiary’s status, retirement, or moving out-of-state.

Please consider naming Horizon Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc. in your will by designating a specific amount or a percentage of the residue.
